Rebar Stress Meter Solutions by Kingmach
On large-scale civil works, rebar stress data can tell you what’s really happening inside concrete before cracks appear. Kingmach builds rebar stress meters that fit into this routine—whether it’s a bridge pier, a tunnel lining, or a dam abutment. We ship standardized models and also adjust gauge length, cable exits, or output signals when a site calls for it. Support starts with sensor selection and continues through data interpretation.
Technical Detail
A rebar stress meter from Kingmach measures axial strain in reinforcing bars by bonding a vibrating wire or strain gauge element directly to a short rebar segment that gets coupled into the structure’s reinforcement cage. The sensor captures load changes from concrete shrinkage, thermal movements, or traffic loads without requiring separate load cells. Standard models handle bar diameters from 12 mm to 40 mm, with overload protection that keeps readings stable even at 150% of rated capacity. Encapsulated electronics and stainless steel housings hold up in wet concrete and high-alkaline environments, while surge protectors on the cable guard against nearby lightning strikes. Output compatibility covers most common readout units and data loggers, so integrating into existing monitoring networks is straightforward. Kingmach keeps stock on key components, but will customize dimensions, cable lengths, and mounting clamps to match project specifications. All meters ship with calibration certificates and are backed by technical teams who can walk through installation procedures or troubleshoot field readings. For long-term monitoring programs, we also offer periodic recalibration and repair services.

Match the meter’s rebar diameter and grade to the design spec of the structure. Kingmach covers 12 mm through 40 mm diameters and can produce intermediate sizes. If your bars run larger, we weld the sensor onto a short stub of matching diameter that threads or laps into the existing cage.
Standard vibrating wire meters deliver resolution better than 0.025% F.S. with long-term stability of less than 0.5% drift per year. Temperature compensation is embedded, and the calibration sheet gives the exact sensitivity factor for your unit.
Yes. The electronics are potted and the housing is sealed to IP68. A steel guard tube protects the sensing section, and the cable is armored. Installers can tie the meter directly to the rebar cage and proceed with normal concrete placement and vibration.
We frequently adjust cable exits and lengths. Standard is 1 m of heavy-duty shielded cable, but we go up to hundreds of meters for remote readings. We can terminate with bare leads, military connectors, or pigtails to match your data logger interface.
Every meter includes a thermistor. Use the supplied temperature coefficient to correct the strain reading in your data reduction software. For projects with large temperature swings, we can supply sensors with matched thermal expansion coefficients to reduce correction work.
